Darce is an owner surrender though absolutely no fault of her own, they just didn’t have the time for her.
Below is her bio from her foster mum♥️
Darce is a young 2 year old female Mal, recently spayed, up to date on all vet care, heartworm negative. She is a stunning large dog coming in at 86 pounds!
Sadly, Darce was relinquished to ABMR after her owner turned her out when she was not aggressive enough for his plans. Darce is anything but aggressive and has little ball/toy drive but is extremely food motivated.
Darce has excellent house manners and is 100% house broken. She sleeps through the night, on the floor, next to our bed. She would like to be on the couch or the bed, but our dominant (much smaller male mix) won't allow it! She definitely respects other dogs. She is not destructive at all. The one caveat is that she has pushed her way out of our wimpy Petsmart crate. Understand that Darce is a rock solid 86 pounds (not an ounce of fat on this girl)- she just leans into the door and it pops. But since she is good in the house, we have not worried about that at all and the crate has been put away.
Darce gets along with ALL other dogs. She loves to run and play and is well mannered. She walks respectfully on a leash, will stay close when off the leash and knows some obedience such as 'sit' and 'come'. She definitely knows "no" and a sharp "Eh"!
Darce is good with farm animals (horses and poultry) and while she would like to go after cats, she is quickly halted with a sharp "no" and she gives up - I do believe that she can be trained to live with cats but it will take training. She is not a killer by any means!
We do not have children, but her former owner said he had a 3yo son and she was good with him. We have a 4 foot fence and she has respected that.
There is no hint of any fear such as thunderstorms or gunfire. She seems to be pretty well adjusted.
She is being fostered by a busy veterinarian who needs to move her along ASAP please! You absolutely cannot go wrong with this gal - she would excel at being a good companion, family dog or a service dog.
This is a unicorn Mal in a big girl body!
