Hi! My name is Shadow and I’m a super handsome 3-year-old boy in Boca Raton, FL. I’m aptly named because I love to be with my human at all times, quite literally, your shadow! I love other dogs, and am a pretty happy guy, just loving life!

I would love an active family that I can spend a lot of time with! I’d also love having some furry siblings (I love cuddling with other dogs) but I may chase cats. I will definitely chase ducks and birds too.

I am little shy when meeting new people. If they are friends of my foster parents and come to our house, I warm up really quickly (and test to find out how much I can get away with). I’m a little more reserved when we go out places - not too many places because of the quarantine, though (we’ll let you know more on that later). Not sure how I feel about kids because we don’t know many, but it would probably depend upon their age because I can be mouthy when I get excited. I will also clack and bark while I play, so I wouldn’t want to scare the young ones.

I’ve been practicing my manners a lot lately, and I especially love food. If you have food I will do WHATEVER you want, and I’ll try all different answers if I’m not sure. One of them must be right! I know sit, down (stay), heel, learning “drop it”, “out” (of the kitchen ), “touch it” and my heel is getting pretty good. My recall is okay, not totally on point. Sometimes I don’t feel like coming all the way back if I don’t think you have treats - I’m trying though!

I can be pushy when you stop petting me; I would like to climb into your lap to cuddle, but I get really excited and can’t sit still once I’m there (foster mom makes me stay on the floor; I sleep on her feet).

I’m not super fit right now (winter bulking, quarantine, you know) but I go on bike rides every day and I’m getting in shape.  I love playing with my German Shepherd foster sister and I had a blast with my previous GSD puppy foster brother who was recently adopted. So far I’ve loved all the dogs I have met and played super well (all dogs may not all love me, though, because I rough-house like a typical Malinois).

I sleep in my crate at night like a champ, but sometimes when I’m crated during the day - and my family is home - I will sing the songs of my people. (Don’t they know I need to hang out with my humans?)  I have a favorite plushy toy I like to carry around the house but if I get bored and haven’t had enough exercise /stimulation I will explore - with my teeth - random objects throughout the house. (As soon as foster sees me and calls me out, I stop; just wanted to see what would happen!)

I am muzzle trained, and since I’m not a big fan of the vet, that’s mainly when I wear it. I used to need a muzzle when clipping my nails but we’ve been practicing a lot and now I don’t mind it so much. (Did I mention how much I like treats?)
