Charlie was found in deplorable conditions.

She is estimated at a year old. Heartworm positive. Unaltered.

She has a super sweet, submissive personality and really wants her own person. For the Mal savvy, she is what I would currently call soft. She will hunker down and belly up in a submissive stance when she is unsure of the situation or what you are doing.

She currently does not know any obedience commands other than “here” but is so willing to learn this will soon be fixed.    She also learned “hup” today for getting in and out of the truck and onto a platform table.

Charlie seems to have never played with a toy before so we are learning how to play like a pup should. So far she has shone interest in soft crinkle toys, benebones and Kongs with peanut butter. With not knowing how to properly play, when she relaxes and gets excited she will grab hands, sleeves, and jump up and clack at your face in true Mal fashion. We are of course working on this by redirecting and learning new play skills.    Because of the current way she plays I would not suggest children under 12-13 (she can be ruff and not realize it hurts).

She is very energetic with an off switch! Likes to run around the yard with you then come cozy up on the dog bed or couch! She likes to be with you, stuck like glue!

Charlie is neutral with large dogs, does not present any aggression even near another with kennel aggression. She really wants a playmate and has the cutest pounce-dogward dog stance ever.

She is interested in cats, but there is definitely hope.

Since Charlie was found outdoors chained, she currently isn’t potty trained. But she has had zero accidents in her kennel. Regular schedules are helping her learn to only potty outside. Also, she shows some kennel anxiety and has tried to escape a wire crate after being left alone. So shorter periods kenneled is best.

Odd quick notes: She can jump really high, really fast!! She has popped me in the cheek. She will counter surf and hover your floor. Rides great in the truck untethered. Ok on leash but weaves and pulls. Eats blankets sometimes. Takes treats sweetly.    No food aggression with people (I feed in kennels) so not sure about another other loose dogs. No toy aggression.
