Meet Major!! He is located in South Carolina.

Is he not stunningly handsome?!! And has tons of personality to boot!! Major is a wonderful 1 – 2-year-old sweet, affectionate ball of energy that is waiting on his forever family to find him!! Found roaming the streets, very thin with a rope trailing from his neck, Major was rescued and has settled into his foster family’s home beautifully! Initially he did not know what boundaries and house rules were, but he is very smart and a quick learner. He loves to be wherever you are and will bring all of his toys with him! He is very goofy, playful and still has so much “puppy” in him!

Major seems very comfortable meeting new people and has done well with all of the people, men and women, he has encountered in his foster home. He has spent a little time around younger children and seems to enjoy their company, but due to his large size, he would be better suited to be around bigger kids. He is still young and can be quite rambunctious. He is learning that he should not put everything, including hands, in his mouth, so children that are knowledgeable with dogs would be great. Redirection with a toy is important with this boy and rough play with people should be discouraged until he is a little older and settled.

Major absolutely loves all dogs, big and small, male and female, as long as they will have him! His foster sibling, a neutered German shepherd, has become his full-time playmate. Again, he is young and quite rambunctious so even though he is fond of small dogs, due to his size it would be best to have him play with dogs closer to his size or larger. He loves playing tug of war with dogs, and people, and will run and play fetch all day long! He has a wonderful toy drive that makes it fun to train him and keeps him very eager to please and get his ball!

Basic obedience is reinforced every day and Major seems to catch on to new things very quickly. He walks beautifully on a leash and does not lunge at passing dogs. Off leash training is also going very well with him and he really seems to enjoy lots of room to run, just as long as he can see where you are. He has a very good recall, even during times that he has chased a squirrel or a few deer. If you carry a ball with you, you will be hard pressed to have him leave your side! There have been no issues with him jumping on people, he just likes to lean on you and give you his “puppy” eyes!

There are not any cats in Major’s foster home, and he has a pretty strong prey drive, so it may be best to have him in a cat free environment. He is crate trained and has been exposed, and non-reactive to bicyclist, strollers, roller blades, tractors and ATV’s. He loves to go for rides in the car and is very well behaved in stores and around large crowds, such as festivals. He is very affectionate and wants to cuddle and literally be in your lap. He is a wonderful boy that has so much to offer in his forever home!
