Umbra is a huge sweetheart that just loves to love! She's probably around 2-3 years old, small/medium at 55ish lbs, and was surrendered to a Houston shelter.

Umbra was a mama dog and is so sweet and gentle! She's a little shy at first, but warms up quickly to new people and places. She does well on walks to the park and picked up leash and home manners quickly. Umbra gets spooked by loud noises and quick movements. She is also unsure around kids because they can be unpredictable sometimes, so a home without kids would be ideal.

We've been working on slowly building her confidence through training games and she loves to work for her people! She has a good working drive and is eager to please, but is quite laid back for a Malinois. Umbra is always relaxed around the home and yard, but she has an extremely high prey drive for squirrels, chickens, and cats, and would do best in a home without any small animals.

Umbra could potentially enjoy dog sports, but has not shown a huge aptitude for toys. She didn't understand what toys were for when we first began fostering her, but we are steadily bringing some toy drive out. Despite the high prey drive, she doesn't understand the game of fetch, but will pick up a chew toy and take it somewhere to gnaw on happily!

Umbra loves other dogs and people, and gets along with dogs of all ages! She is submissive when meeting new dogs, but quickly wins over all dogs she meets and would probably love having another dog in the household to snuggle and romp around with. Umbra also loves lounging around in the backyard, sunbathing, and rolling in the grass. Umbra is crate and potty trained and has learned how to wait for her food.

No resource guarding at all. She is doing better with waiting at the door before going out (she used to try to door dash, so something to be aware of! We practiced not door dashing while having her on leash and are still very careful about doors opening and closing because she can be fast!)

Umbra also loves her crate and we often find her resting in there with the door open. She loves car rides and will eagerly jump in the crate to ride in the car. She walks well on a leash, can do brief sit/stays and down/stays, and is learning how to focus on the handler more around distractions. We've been working on her obedience a lot, but I'm sure she could always learn more! More than anything, Umbra is a huge cuddlebug and wants to be right there with her people! If you're looking for a couch buddy or a companion to go on walks with, Umbra may be the right match for you!
