About Arlo - VA | |
|
|
Arlo (fostered in VA), is a shy boy and a little nervous if you try to approach him to fast but sit down, and he's ready to come and say hi. He wants to be where you are and will follow you around the house and sit at your feet. Arlo has done well in the crate, a little whiny at first, but settles down quickly.
He walks well on the leash with a prong, he can get a little nervous if a car passes by, but he hasn't pulled or doesn't chase any wildlife when we pass by them. I have even started running with him; he has done amazingly well. He seems to enjoy running and playing with a flirt pole. Any squeaker toy and beef cheek rolls will keep him occupied for a while!
My GSD (female) and Arlo have been great playmates. Arlo is still learning that people and other dogs have boundaries, and we must respect them, but he tends to be easily corrected.
We have introduced commands with Arlo; he will sit and wait to be let out of the kennel and sit for treats. He gently takes food out of my hands, and his go-to training treats are chicken hearts and other heathy nibblie bits.
Overall, he has such a great personality, and though he's still a little rough around the edges, he has so much potential!
He would be fine as an only dog or with a female that will tolerate his occasional puppy pushiness. Someone looking for a pint sized pocket rocket wanting to get into agility, luring, barn hunt this is your boy.
Age: Estimated one year
Gender : Male
Altered: Neutered 19SEP22
Potty Trained: No accidents in the house or the crate! He will let you know if he needs to go out, but I tend to take him out every hour when I am home. Left in crate 4-6hrs during the day and 8hrs at night with no issues.
Health: Overall good, deworming in progress, one more treatment to go, and he is all clear!
Energy Level: Medium. He is ready to go as soon as he's out of his crate, but after a few minutes of zoomies, he's prepared to come inside. I think daily walks/runs with playtime will suit him just fine.
Behavior:
Good with female dogs. Not tested with small animals or small kids, but not recommended. Arlo can be mouthy, and even though he's a small guy, he has a lot of energy and wiggliness that could knock a smaller child over.
For a young pup off the streets having to fend for himself for goodness knows how long he is doing great Arlo is ready to take the next step and look for his forever home who will continue with his training and let him know that people can be really cool to hang out with and won’t hurt him any more but show him all the love he could possibly want……
Are you ready to be that person for Arlo? If so please go to our website and fill out an adoption application, he’s waiting for you.♥️
ABMR thanks you for taking the time to look at our malinois available for adoption.
