About Smoke Jensen - MA | |

|
Smoke Jensen and his female littermate are a bonded pair living in Charlotte, NC. The owner lost her home and is living in a camper on a friend’s property in their backyard. She needs to rehome Smoke Jensen but feels she can keep the female. Both dogs have free run in about a ¼ acre pen near the camper and also are taken for walks in the woods behind the property. They are a bonded pair, so I hope that there are no behavior issues when they are separated.
The owner stated that both have received basic obedience training and have been DNA tested. She claimed they both had a small amount of GSD in their bloodlines, but it is obvious from looking at them that they are primarily Malinois.
Smoke Jensen appears to be in excellent health with a nice coat, ears, and teeth. I saw no signs of injury or illness. Owner feeds Hill’s Science Diet. Smoke was a little thin, but nothing completely out of the ordinary for a young Mal. Upon meeting him, he did not jump or nip. He approached me calmly and allowed me to immediately pet him and touch him. He walks well on a leash and knowledge of basic commands was verified.
While I was there, the owner allowed both dogs to run off into the woods. When she whistled/called them, they both immediately returned. It is obvious that they have had some formal training. She claims they have been taught the property boundaries and never leave that area. The owner is knowledgeable of the breed, and it is apparent she spends a good amount of time with the dogs. She has young grandchildren who are around the dogs frequently (they were not present at the time of my evaluation). She stated that she was 100% confident of their behavior around children to be non-aggressive and polite. I did not see anything to the contrary with their interactions with me. Owner claimed that Smoke Jensen rides well in the car and is well behaved at the veterinarian’s office.
Smoke Jensen appears to be a low-drive Malinois with only a little interest in toys and balls. This might change if he doesn’t have his sister to interact with. While there, they spent most of their time playing with each other, chasing each other around, and having fun ignoring the humans. I do not think it would be difficult to place Smoke Jensen in a good home. Pictures and video have been sent to the coordinator verifying the visit.
