About Nixa MO | |
|
|
Nixa is a very sweet and affectionate 8-10 month old girl. She is on the small side, weighing in at 38 lbs. She loves her kennel, both eating and sleeping in it. She will drag her toys and coveted items into her kennel.
She loves playing fetch and does a good job of giving the ball back. She has great name recall and is proficient with sit. We are working on down and place. She walks well on a leash and rides like a champ in the car.
I would highly recommend that she receives continued socialization, especially in a home environment. She does well when out in public, but is protective of her home from perceived strangers. She isn’t aggressive, but will bark and has shown some fear of new people at home. She warms up after 15-20 minutes, with calm reassurance.
In her words…. My foster family rocks! I love playing with my siblings. They are all bigger than me, but I can hold my own!! There is one really old Jack Russell that has a huge attitude problem, but I leave her alone and she doesn’t mind sharing her bed with me occasionally.
My foster mom doesn't have many visitors but when one of her friends came over I was super concerned about the safety of our home. It took me a little bit before I felt comfortable with the new human, but once he started giving treats and scratches, I decided he was ok.
When my foster mom takes me out places I really like all the people. I'm cautious but I warm up faster away from my house. My foster mom thinks I just need more socializing. She said I was good with kids too, with slow introductions to make sure I understand the kids are my friends. There are two little girls (5 & 7) that live behind me and they are awesome!! It did take my foster mom telling me they were ok and giving me reassurance that they were nice. Now, I love running up and down the fence for their attention.
I haven’t met any cats yet. My siblings think felines are food, so my foster mom isn’t really sure what I will do.
My foster mom says I’m not as crazy as my other Malinois siblings, but that I do get to run quite a bit during the day when she is at work. I do really well staying in my yard and fence, but I made sure my foster mom found all the small places I could squeeze out of. I kind of respect the kiddy gate she has in the house, but I made sure she knew that I could clear that silly thing like a high jumper. She wasn’t amused and told me to stop it, so like a true teenager, sometimes I listen.
I’d really love to find my very own family!! I’d really like it if my family has a grown up sibling for me to learn the ropes from and keep me company. I promise to make sure everyone in the house knows if someone I don’t know shows up! I might even like human siblings! My foster mom said they would need to go slow with me at first, but I love cuddling and those two legged small humans drop food!
ABMR thanks you for taking the time to look at our malinois available for adoption.
