Shiva is a 2 year old Belgian Malinois.  Rescue has been aware of him for a while, and his elderly owner finally surrendered him to Rescue.  He was not able to take care of him anymore due to illness.  Shiva is a strong boy and was pulling him down and lived in a very busy area of Cincinnati with a lot of foot traffic and dog walkers. 

Shiva was loved but not given the outlets he needed nor training, but in spite of this, he is a nice dog with a stable temperament.   He lived in a house without a yard and only taken out once or twice a day to potty.  He is crate trained (with a little encouragement). 
Shiva is now with a temp foster/trainer and I’m sure this active boy thinks he died and went to heaven—getting to run around and play and learning all about how to be a good boy and not do things like counter surf and jump on people!  He is smart and biddable and wants to learn although he sometimes gets a little frustrated and overstimulated as he has never had too many expectations before!  He is a bit bullish and mouthy when he doesn’t want to do something but loves people and is affectionate. 
Shiva is looking for a long-term foster (would love a foster with intent to adopt) to continue his training.  Cats unknown, although he was appropriate with a potbellied pig in his temp foster!!  He shows interest in livestock but not over the top and will recall away (From the fence) with dog food (was trained previously with e-collar for come when called and is going through some refresher at the foster’s home) He gets along with other dogs with proper introductions although he might come off as TOO INTERESTED (but not aggressive) although I'm sure other dogs can find this quite annoying!  No very young children—he is a strong boy without a lot of manners right now.  He needs a lot of leash work as he learned that if he pulled hard, his old owner would drop the leash to avoid being pulled over—and then he got to run around!  A fenced in yard would be idea for him, although fences are not a substitution for supervision or training.  
Shiva has very high food drive and will work for kibble only!  Hasn’t shown interest in ball but only been at foster a few days. Will tug but ‘once again’ will try and overpower the owner and then can get overstimulated and frustrated and jump on the person. 

Shiva seems like he would be a fun dog and will continue to thrive in the right home.  Overall, he is not too complicated as far as Malinois go and would be good for a first-time owner.  He will need to be neutered in his foster home.
