Esmerelda is a young, altered female who is looking for her foster or foster to adopt. She is active and loves to catch balls in her mouth, play fetch & tug, but she takes treats gently.  She is working on going into her crate willingly, but she keeps a clean crate and settles nicely after a few minutes. She eats in her crate and but will tip over a water bowl inside. She has a cute habit of dropping her ball from her mouth repeatedly when she is ready to come out and play, signaling for your attention with the sounds it makes. We are working to understand that blankets, rugs, and pillows are not toys, but with a firm verbal correction, she will typically redirect her attention to her ball or chew toy. She is doing well with house training if given frequent breaks outdoors.  Esmerelda is learning leash manners, house manners, and "sit" with more obedience work to come. She does like walking  and exploring outside, so her leash manners are improving by leaps and bounds. She no longer attempts to devour the leash as soon as it is near her. She does like to be with her people and her ball, so she has attempted to climb a half door multiple times and attempted a raised baby gate.  Esemerelda continues to work on integrating into a lifestyle with other dogs. Whle this process is extremely slow, we are seeing some improvement with the intensity and tone of her responses. She will probably do best in home with submissive personalities in the other dogs. Expect updates as Esmerelda grows and learns to be part of a family!
