Mako would make a perfect first Malinois for anyone with the desire to continue his basic training!

Mako received an A+ during his first trip to the Vet this morning. He gave kisses to the vet techs and encouraged every person he saw to give him pets. He does this everywhere he goes!

Mako is an old spirit with low energy. He might possibly be older than 2, as so far he has only required long walks and mental stimulation from training. He does not appear to need the hours of daily work we have grown to love of this breed.

‍♂️‍♂️ He LOVES men, and adores the love he gets from everyone including older children.

He’s had a blast exploring Northern Virginia and seems to be down for whatever adventure is on the horizon.

If you’re looking for a natural comedian who will cuddle with you on the couch for a few min before he goes to lay down- look no further!

Alright, alright. What are his quirks? (Happy to report nothing major!!!)

- We started at the beginning with “sit” so he will need someone willing to spend ~20 min a day working on commands. He is quite intuitive, so it’s fun for both parties!
- He so desperately wants to be friends with most he sees. He needs to learn we don’t yell at new friends because they won’t want to play with us. Mako also needs to learn how to match energy levels with his fur-friends. (Read the room, buddy) ‼️So it is absolutely imperative that very slow introductions are made. If not then there will be an issue.‼️

- Mako was found as a stray in North Carolina, so we are working on making him comfortable with separation. We aren’t talking wall eating (he was fine on my couch while I ran an errand!), but learning the back of the Jeep and crates are places for fun and not anywhere he will be abandoned again- so no need to jump out and get right by your side.
- If another reactive dog is acting up nearby, he will also act up but has been very receptive to treats and that new command “sit”. With a bit of training/reinforcement I think he will learn to ignore those not-so-nice dogs.

He hasn’t been tested around cats, but does have a very high prey drive for ️. So probably best he doesn’t go to a home with one or small children.

Mako came to me as an emergency foster at no fault of his own. If my work/travel schedule was in a better place for him, I wouldn’t think twice about holding onto him! He is a !!!
