Aja is located in Virginia.

Aja is a gorgeous, very sweet 3 year old learning how to be a family dog as she was kept in a kennel run her whole life.

Aja came into rescue very thin but under the wonderful care of her foster mom has put on some much needed weight and currently weighs 63 lbs. She was not taught basic manners and is mouthy like a typical puppy. Her foster mom is working with her on this but due to this, she will not be placed in a home with small children.

Aja can be a little apprehensive of new things but if allowed to investigate will recover quickly. She eats and drinks with fervor like she has not had consistent access to these things in her prior life. Her zest for food also motivates her to counter surf (her foster mom is working with her on this but it would be best not to leave food out if she is going to be unsupervised). She is crate trained and house trained.

Aja rides well in the car and walks next to you nicely on walks. She knows some basic commands. Her foster mom has small baby gates up and Aja respects these even though she could easily jump them.

Aja has been trying to play with the foster mom's dogs but they are quite a bit smaller than Aja and she is a little too rambunctious and rough with them which scares them. She would do fine with dogs closer to her size. She will not be placed in a home with cats. 

Aja is good meeting new people although a little cautious when meeting new men but will warm up quickly given proper introductions. She wants nothing more than to be close to her human and to be loved on.

She likes to run around the yard with the other dogs but is not high drive when it comes to chasing a ball.

Aja is in search of a forever home where her family can spend the requisite time to provide physical and mental stimulation and to engage her bright mind and make her an integral part of their daily lives. She has great potential and has blossomed so much just in the few weeks since living with her foster mom.
