Axel is a 10 month old male with no prior training before entering rescue.  He was found as a stray in the back country of Mississippi.  He is a blank slate with no known baggage other than his desire to escape and explore.  The first night he was contained he chewed through a cyclone fence.  He will need to be supervised while outside and he requires a securely fenced yard  - no doggie door or invisible fencing.  His new home will need to be vigilant to keep him safe and continue to work on obedience training with him.

Axel is an exceptionally friendly boy that loves everybody, furry or human.  He doesn't bark much except when put in the kennel for the night or initially when crated during the day.  His foster has been working on this and he is making good improvement in being kenneled and crated.  His new home will need to continue this training and plan to use a reinforced crate.  Axel enjoys training and is a smart boy.  He still has a lot of puppy energy and loves playing - especially with other dogs.  He loves to go on walks and enjoys car rides although he will sometimes get car sick.  He loves attention and is bonding more closely with his foster mom the longer he has been with her.  We do not think he had a lot of human contact or bonding with humans previously.  Ideally his new family will not need to crate him for long hours every day.

Axel has been successfully treated for heart worms and has just been released from restricted activity.  He is ready to find his forever home to romp and play and is a sponge ready to soak up everything he can learn.  He has no ball drive but enjoys his kongs and stuffed bones and is highly food motivated.  He is a handsome boy that is ready to be someone's faithful companion.  Whether it be lying on the couch to catch some zzzz's, chasing a fellow sibling around playing, or maybe even agility training - Axel is ready for his forever home!  Please email Marcia for additional information at mhcil@aol.com.
