Introducing Dulcinea!
Dulcinea (Dulci) is a 4 year old, very special little girl, currently located in Pennsylvania.
Personality: Dulci has a cute, feisty, and adventurous personality. She is very petite - some might say she is a pocket rocket and we think she would enjoy learning and participating in a sport like dock diving, Fast CAT, or nose work.
She is a total cuddle bug. She is happiest when with her people. She loves her blankets and has earned the nickname 'Linus' because it seems to give her a sense of security and she uses it kind of like a pacifier.
She is great at the vet and doesn't mind being handled.
She is cautious of strangers but will warm up with proper introductions. Due to her intensity and prey drive she will not be placed in a home with toddlers or cats.
Training: Dulci rides well in the car, is crate trained, house trained and knows some basic obedience like sit, down, leave it, drop it, and come. She is wicked smart and loves to work for food and praise so teaching her new behaviors is a lot of fun! She is a diamond in the rough and needs someone that enjoys the training process.
She loves to use her nose and quickly figures out the Nina Ottosson dog puzzles that make dogs use their brains to get to the food.
Dulci's Story:
Dulci's family is heartbroken to have to rehome her but due to the sudden and unexpected loss of the husband in the family, the family is finding themselves in a dire situation and needs to find a safe place for Dulci immediately.
Since the passing of the husband, there is not sufficient time to work with the dogs and the pack dynamics have shifted to where Dulci is now not getting along with the 14 year old female dog. Dulci gets along great with her Malinois brother.
Typical of Malinois, she plays very rough so older dogs are not advisable.
Health: Dulcinea is spayed and UTD on vaccinations. As you will notice in several of her photos, Dulci has a cleft lip. There are no medical concerns with the cleft lip. Cleft lips are considered cosmetic and don’t require any surgical repair. It is not impacting their nasal cavity or anything like that. She can eat, drink and play normally.
