Klaus is a 2 ½ year old neutered male currently located in Pennsylvania.

Klaus is proficient in many obedience behaviors!  He is crate trained and well versed in basics such as ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘place’ (which means come to your side), ‘in’ (meaning to get in between your legs – which seems to be his favorite), and a solid recall off-leash.  In addition, he will go sit at the door and stare at it to let you know he needs to go potty.  When outside, he won’t go potty until you tell him to do so!

He loves his ball and sleeps with it in his mouth.

He is a love bug to those that are in his circle of trust and can be silly and make you laugh.

Klaus can be comical and sometimes act like an immature, slightly spoiled, child.  For example, he can be dramatic when he doesn’t get his own way and throw himself on the floor, sighing in disdain when not permitted to have his way but his foster mom has been teaching him the rules of the house and he is learning very quickly.  He is very smart.

New situations make Klaus a little nervous and he is unsure. His foster mom has been working with him to build his confidence, teaching him how to think for himself and not need constant human guidance.  His forever home will need to continue to work on this. He can be ‘guardy’ of both his person as well as toys. He is learning that he must ‘earn’ access to the things he desires.

He is cautious of stranger and takes a while to accept new people into the home.  He likes to ‘test’ people to see if he can intimidate them but once you pass the test, he will interact in a gentlemanly fashion.

He will not be placed on a home with small humans and would do best in a home as an only dog. He is not the kind of Mal that would be a good candidate as someone’s ‘first’ Malinois.     

This boy is a real gem that will thrive with an experienced handler – he has grown so much just in the short time he has been in foster care. Can’t wait to see what this boy will do!
