Poke is a very active 3 month old male puppy who was turned into the shelter after he sustained head lacerations. We were told his injuries were from a littermate at 8 weeks old. We are certain that he was attacked by an adult dog in the home due to the nature of his injuries. This situation had caused him to have fear of large, fast approaching dogs. In foster, he is learning that all dogs are not harmful and he is beginning to exhibit better socialization skills with other dogs. Proper introductions and pack integration in a new home are crucial to his success. We will provide ABMR guidelines on best practices regarding transitioning and decompression for bringing a new dog or puppy into your home. Poke is not a dog for the first time Malinois owner. He is already exhibiting the need for structure and positive reinforcement. He is already showing the need and desire to learn. He is crate trained and is wonderfully quiet at night. Reinforcing the positive aspects of his crate will give him the foundation to help build confidence. We are currently working on house training. He does indicate when he needs to go out, but it is your job to watch for clues. Poke is a blank slate who has endless potential in the right home.
