About Lyla - PA | |

|
Lyla is a beautiful, sweet 1 year old female currently located in Pennsylvania.
She is a happy little girl that LOVES to play. She has lots of food and toy drive which is instrumental in teaching her engagement and new behaviors. If you have a ball, she is hyper focused. She knows some basic obedience like ‘sit’ and ‘down’ and is doing well with learning threshold training, waiting politely to go out the door.
She is crate trained and housetrained. She rides well in the car in a crate – she will sometimes whine at the start but if you ask her to settle, she quiets down and is a very good passenger.
She loves going on hikes with her foster family. She has found that splashing in the creek is big fun and enjoys the water.
She gets along great with the foster family’s resident Malinois. She plays rough, in typical Malinois fashion, so would require supervised introductions to new dogs, especially smaller dogs. She is very respectful of her foster brother’s ‘ownership’ of a toy so if she wants something he has, she will distract him in hopes that he will abandon the toy so that she can go get it – VERY clever girl.
She has a very expressive face and knows how to look at you with those soft eyes to get what she wants such as food, toys or attention (she might be a little manipulator ). When she wants attention and you ignore her, she will smack you with her paw and give you her sweet innocent face. She likes to snuggle and if you let her climb into your lap, she likes to give kisses and nibble on your ear.
Her foster dad has been taking her to work in a noisy shop where she gets to meet new people and be exposed to new sounds and experiences. She did not grow up in the most enriched environment so she sometimes approaches new things with caution, but her foster family patiently works her through her trepidation and she gets past her worries.
She loves people but can be cautious of strangers, primarily men. If given time to get comfortable, she will approach for attention. She is still a puppy in many ways. When she gets excited, she gets mouthy and can grab your hand – it is never in a harsh or aggressive way but due to her exuberance, she will not be placed in a home with children under 10.
Lyla is wishing for a forever family that will make her part of the family and include her in all of their adventures. An active home that has time to continue her training. The forever home that adopts Lyla will be a very lucky family.
